What’s the difference between Medical Coder and biller?
I’m interested in becoming a certified medical coder in northern ca. I’m looking for training but I can only find Coding And Billing together can these classes be taking separate? What are the requirements to take this course?
The medical coder needs to put the proper Medical Code in order for the medical insurance company to bill for the proper treatment. Please realize that there are Not supposed to be too many jobs for the medical biller or coder (or medical assistant) despite what those private $$ for-profit tech schools say. With Medical Billing, a lot of companies are outsourcing to Asia/India leaving jobs more scarce. Regarding Medical Coding, the person may need a couple of years doing coding tasks, certifications in the field and preferably completion of an accredited program in coding to Possibly get a job.
If still interested in training, please consider the more affordable (and usually more regulated) county vo-tech school or community college if the program is accredited within the industry.
